VCO OBJECT HARDWARE
[ BACK TO MAIN PAGE ] - [ SEGA HARDWARE PAGE ]

HARDWARE DESCRIPTION
Hardware notes from Mark Haysman : These games share the same method of Object generation - IE digital data is sent to an ADC, which is split and sent to a bank of 8 Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) that generate clocks controlling the data fetched from the Object roms.
This is a very primitive way of sprite zooming - the slower the clock, the larger the sprite on screen will be. Take a look at the schematics and you'll see the object circuits for Turbo and Buck Rogers are identical, and Sub Roc has twice the object memory (for the 3D effect)
Emulators : MAME
