There are actually 2 revisions of GX motherboard, they are totally interchangable and the Version 2 motherboard is just smaller, has 1 fewer custom chips, was cheaper to produce, cooler and used less power.

Sound chip : 056800, 2 x 054539 (PCM, 8 Ch) and TMS57002 (effects DSP) | Graphics chips : 58143, 56832, 55555, 58142, 55673, 58144. (58143 replaces 54156, 58142 replaces 53246, 58144 replaces 54338. All are completely compatible with their predecessors, just smaller)

Type 3 : Adds 53936 (3D ground chip), no analog inputs.
Type 4 : Adds 53936 (3D ground chip), dual-monitor output.
